Thank you for all your hard work with the team over the past 4 weeks. Today at the sales meeting everyone that attended was grateful for reviewing what is required to be a good agent. Those that had been in real estate for some time mentioned that it was a timely reminder of what they should be doing that they aren’t, and of course for the newbies it gave them some guidelines as to how and what to focus on.

As a real estate agent, you may wonder whether it's better to maintain one Instagram account or have separate ones for personal and business use. We'll explore the advantages and disadvantages of each approach and provide practical tips to optimize your Instagram presence.
This is an age-old question and one I frequently get asked when I am doing my Live coaching sessions for real estate agents. My quick answer is this: If you're a company, obviously you will need more than one Instagram account. You will need a company one and then you'll need your individual one. This also works for teams.
But what if you’re an individual real estate agent? Do you need a personal and a business account? What are the pros and cons of having one account versus two? Let’s dive in.
Imagine having two accounts. You've got your personal and you've got your business. In your personal account, you’re posting about your private life - what your dog looks like; what your favourite restaurant is; who your friends are; what you're up to in your spare time. Do you play tennis or go to pilates or yoga? What are you doing on holiday? Since it’s your private life, you probably want to keep this account private.
With your business account, on the other hand, it’s all about business. You’re posting your new listings, your sales, and some community stuff. It's very boring. There's not much of you in there and that's how you want it.
If you've got two accounts and you’ve set your personal account to private, people will have to request to follow you to be able to see your posts. This makes it a lot harder for them to check out who you are.
Managing two accounts is more stressful.
If you have a private personal account, people who Google you will wonder why you’re hiding under a private account.
When considering two Instagram accounts, one for personal use and the other for business, there are some key points to consider:
Pro Tip: Remember whatever you put on the internet is there for everrrrr….So be careful about what you post or it could come back to bite you!
My Personal Preference
In my opinion, For real estate agents it's better to have a Single Instagram Business account that showcases both your personal and professional life. This account can give followers a well-rounded view of who you are as a real estate agent and as a person. However, exercise caution about what you post since everything you share reflects your personal brand. If you don't want certain aspects of your life known to others, refrain from sharing them online.
Here's Why You Should Have ONE Business Instagram Account:
One account gives followers a well-rounded view of who you are as a person and as a real estate agent, establishing a strong personal brand.
By being selective about what you post, you can ensure that everything shared aligns with your brand image and values.
This must be a business account. You can track and measure what content your followers most enjoy and what gets engagement, you can automate posts and comments with AI and do a lot more in general with a Business account.
Ideal Content Ratio For Real Estate Agents
To strike the right balance in your Instagram content, follow this recommended ratio:
40% of your posts should focus on community-related content, highlighting local events, businesses, and initiatives you support.
30%-40% of your posts should showcase your personal brand, sharing weekend activities, restaurant visits, and other experiences that humanize your brand.
10 to 20% of your posts can feature real estate-related content, such as new listings, successful sales, client testimonials, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of your work process.
This ratio isn’t set in stone. You can play around on what works well for your audience but what you don’t want to be doing is spamming your followers with all your listings. That’s going to be super boring and you'll end up getting people unfollowing you, which is not what you want. You want to increase your personal brand and have yourself out there, showcased in an awesome light so that people want to do business with you because they love you as a person.
Storytelling Through Instagram: Engaging Your Audience
Instagram is a powerful platform for visual storytelling. Utilize it to its full potential by posting beautiful images, experimenting with cool filters, creating engaging Instagram Stories and Reels, and connecting with your audience authentically. Showcasing your life and who you are as a person and professional will humanize your brand and strengthen the bond with your followers.
Post high-quality images and use relevant hashtags to increase visibility.
Engage your audience with Instagram Stories and Reels to showcase your daily life and real estate successes.
Demonstrate community involvement and showcase your local expertise through captivating content.
TOP TIP: Reels is the number one method at them moment to increase followers and engagement and it is content that sticks around for a long time.
As a real estate agent, having a well optimized Instagram presence is essential to building your personal brand and connecting with potential clients. By maintaining one business account, striking the right content balance, and leveraging the power of storytelling, you can create a compelling Instagram profile that attracts and engages your audience, ultimately driving real estate success.
Lastly, what are you hiding? Instagram is a platform for people to follow you and if you’re ever in doubt about what to post, keep it simple. Use the KISS method. Keep it simple, stupid.
